Any any fever cures out there?

My dad has the worst cases of hay fever I have ever seen. I don't think the poor guy has enjoyed a sunny day in his life. When it gets sunny he is bed ridden, looking like he has some kind of virus. Also he can't control sniffing, he does about 10 sniffs and then does this giant pig grunt sniff. Any cures at all, pyriton and even doctor prescibed medication does not work! What works for you, any unconventional cures, and I'm not talking about new age stuff when I mean that Lol! He needs to go to an allergist and have desensitization shots.
